iiNet, Australia’s 3rd largest Internet Service Provider (ISP), recently commissioned Project Rentals to install their new 550kVA diesel generating set at its Osborne Park Data Centre Facility.

The Data Centre is at the heart of iiNet’s business, housing many of the servers and routers that ensure quality broadband, satellite broadband, mobile broadband, dialup, web hosting, business telecommunication solutions and web-based content for over 750,000 services Australia-wide.
Project Rentals has managed to meet iiNet’s strict technical specifications and rapid turnaround time with the supply and installation of their sound attenuated diesel generator, winning the tender over numerous Australian and global power generation providers.
Murray Willock, iiNet Project Manager, says “Our customer’s satisfaction is paramount, so to be able to provide them with the added security that the networks will continue to operate in the event of a power outage at the data centre was critical.”
The genset meets strict noise level regulations, in place due to nearby offices, and is fully bunded to avoid any spillage of fuel and other contaminants into the environment.
Project Rentals has not only supplied the required emergency power for the project, but has also assisted in offsetting some of iiNet’s carbon footprint.
In addition, the generator is a high ambient unit able to withstand the consistent high temperatures during Perth’s summer period, ensuring a continued supply of power in the event of a power outage.
The project installation has been coordinated by PR Power (Project Rentals Sales Division), who have liaised closely with iiNet to ensure a smooth installation.
